Our little Copper came to live with us in January when he was just 8 weeks old. We had been watching in the paper for months to find a breeder of Miniature Dachshunds and I finally saw the ad. Not saying a word to the kids, I made an appointment to go look at the two male puppies that were left. We arrived at the breeder's house, and she brought them out for us to see. When the kids saw the two Miniature Dachshunds, I said "How would you like to take one of them home?" The kids said "Right now?!?!" And we tried to pick which one of the adorable pups we were going to have as our newest family member. Little 4 pound Copper came right to me, and was such a snuggler from the beginning that there was no doubt he was the one for us. We fell in love with him instantly, and took him home. Copper has been such a wonderful addition to our family. He was so playful and loving, we couldn't have asked for more from our sweet little puppy. From the moment he walked into our lives we loved him, and the loss of him will leave a hole in our hearts until the end of time. I'll never forget a single moment we had with him. He was only in our lives for a short time, but he left a pawprint on our hearts forever. We were devastated when he got sick, and our hearts were torn from us when we had to leave the vet's office without him after the worst had happened. He died at just over 6 months old, weighing in at only 7.6 pounds. (Mom was 8 lbs and dad was 5 lbs fully grown) A tiny little puppy, whose unconditional love will stay with us forever.
