Basil was the most amazing cat... he had such character.  His purrs and cuddles always brought smiles and happiness to our family.  He loved playfighting with our other cat Stimpy and they were always so funny to watch.  Basil knew his limits and was always up to mischief as well.  So many times he would bring in a mouse.  He would seem to invite all the other cats in the neighbourhood to come to our house and play with him at night while everyone was asleep.  And they would always have a lovely feast in the kitchen from the bowl of cat biscuits.  He was always friendly with other cats... never really teriotorial like most cats are.  Basil was so great with the children and I guess Basil thought of himself as their teddybear!!!  He loved sleeping on someones bed, including mine and my husbands.  He even had a special noise that he made every time he jumped off or down from something.  His loss was so hard for our family to accept.  I feel so saddened that he was hit by a car and died during the night, only to be found the next day by a neighbour.  Basil was only two years old, so we hadn't had him that long... and although he has now gone... the memories we have of him will last forever.
