Gossi was a mixed breed. Some said he looked like a Wheaton Terrier, some said he looked like a Briard. I think he looked exactly like Top Dog in the Chuck Norris movie of the same name. Gossi was the runt of a litter of nine puppies. I had to talk his owner in to letting him have a nice suburban home in New Jersey rather than the Brooklyn junkyard where he was born. My son Matt named him before we got him, when Matt was 8 years old. He said, "When I get a dog I'm going to name him Gossimer like the cartoon character." Seems there was a Warner Bros. cartoon character that was big and hairy named Gossimer. When I got him from the junkyard I stopped at the vet on Route 9 and told them his name was Gossimer and the vet gave me a note telling my wife not to kill me for bringing this cute little puppy home and certifying that his health was good. This was the best, brightest, most gentle and kind dog ever, ever in life. He is going to be sorely missed. He went quietly and peacefully, probably of a heart attack. Gossi was always afraid of a thunder storm and there was a bad one here in Jersey tonight. It was just too much for my old friend.
