Good Dog was a stray that hung out around my aunt and uncle's house. I am not really sure how he aquired the name GOOD DOG. We all just started calling him that. Somebody shot him and He showed up at their house when he needed critical care. My aunt and uncle care a lot about animals and Good Dog knew that. He had to be "put back together" by the vet and had to stay indoors for awhile to recover. After awhile he really grew on everyone. He loved to take rides in the blue subaru that belonged to my uncle. He was the first dog I have ever seen to ride an intertube down Citico creek. We always joked and said if my uncle were to die he'd leave everything in his will to Good Dog. He was always there with everything we did as a family. Once GOOD DOG had heart worms and we thought he would not make it. He would not eat or drink hardly anything until my uncle took him by BURGER KING. GOOD DOG perked up after having his very own flame-broiled plain hamburger. That was the start of Good Dog getting his own hamburger every day. There was also a time he was riding in the back of the truck and jumped out. My uncle could not find him and thought he'd ran off because he was hurt badly. For days he was missing and everyone was so sad and worried. Then several days later my aunt came home from work and there he was "covered in mud" she said. I always wonder where he had been and so joyful that he had returned. I ALWAYS said I wanted to have my own dog just like GOOD DOG. The funny thing is that Good Dog was responsible in a way for finding MY dog up at Chota-Tanasi. He found her in the woods and lured her out where my aunt and uncle could see her. Then he lured her into the car where they would be able to bring her home. I am grateful for that! Good Dog was one of the best pets I have ever known. He will be missed but we are blessed that he added SO MUCH joy to our family.
