I have known Rio for over eight years now. And tonight that big lover has gone to heaven. Rio died at home on his blanket, right where he wanted to be. Rio was one of the smartest dogs I have ever known. When I first began dating Kim eight years ago Rio was not very receptive of me sitting next to her and holding her hand. Rio used to take my sunglasses or my one litre bottle of soda gently in his mouth and place the item at the other end of the house so I would have to get up and get it. Meanwhile he would take my spot next to Kim. Rio was the sweetest most loveable dog. And even though Rio was not my dog I will miss him terribly. Tonight there is a huge emptiness inside me and my heart hurts. And to Rio's family I would like them to know that I loved Rio as if he were my own. I love you Rio and will miss you so very much. Rest in peace old fella.
