Often times some humans do not understand the love for a pet. Phoenix was not a "pet", he was and always will be one of my three furry children. He left behind his older brother Lindsey, who is 14 and his younger brother Frank, who will be 6 in April of 2006. I was blessed with Phoenix in 2003 through a friend. He moved in and stayed in the bathroom for a week! He was terrified to come out...His daddy went in everyday and talked to him to make him feel comfortable and at home. Phoenix began to relax and became KING of the house! We moved into a new place and this time we had stairs. He and Frank would run and play on the stairs. Soon after, Phoenix became a Momma's Boy. His favorite thing to do was to lay in Momma's arms while she watched television. Phoenix would meet me at the door everyday when I came home from work. He would meow until I picked him up and carried him around with me. His favorite food is pretzels! He would try to get in the bag and eat as many as possible. He would sometimes get a few bites as a treat but not much more! Phoenix was my alarm clock. He would wake me up every morning. He sat beside me as I put on my makeup before work. His approval was all that I needed. He and his brothers never drank from a bowl, they insisted that the water in the bathroom sink was kept running. And of course, it was... He had a favorite toy of course. It was a thick blue feather at the end of a plastic stick. The love he gave was unconditional and in return I worshipped him. He was treated like a king and will always be my king. Though my heart breaks because he left his earthly body, I know that my sister, Rhonda, will take good care of him until I am with him again.
