One day upon visiting the Pet Shelter looking for a puppy, I overheard a woman crying and asking the Vet Technician what the chances would be for a three year old dog to get adopted.....of course the answer was not very good. I took it upon myself to speak with the lady and asked to see her dog. As soon as I saw this massive big spry looking dog I fell in love!!! The lady decided to give "Bailey" to me. Along with Bailey I got a bag of medication. At the time the lady told me it was for her ear mites...an ointment and some prednisone tablets. I came to find out that this Yellow Lab had chronice ear infections which was very costly and what I believe was the reason for her departure from her family. But through the years we stuck it through and I took care of her as best as I could. I was alone at the time and she was my best friend and my bodyguard!!! She made my so very happy. We took good care of each other. About the time Baily was 8 years old, I met my future husband to be. He took Bailey in right away. Now Bailey had someone to play rough house with just the way she likes. Being 110 pounds it was a bit hard on me to keep up with her. She loved to run and play tug o war with old socks. My husband took such good care of her too!! The three of us were a happy little family. After our wedding we inroduced a new family member, Max the tabby cat. Now Bailey wouldn't addmit anything when someone was around but you could catch the two of them sharing kisses every now and then. But Max would always attack Bailey and get on her last nerver. But my timid Bailey would just walk away rather than take a snap. I know the two of them worked together too....the cat would go on the counter and knock some food down to the floor so Bailey could have a taste.
My husband will never forget the trip we took up North to Kincardine Ontario with Bailey in the the old Mustang. All the the way back home, Bailey kept her chin on his shoulder and kept him company.
On October 18th 2002, we had the birth of our first baby boy. Almost a year old, he would get up in the morning and go to the room where Bailey lay most of the day looking for her. She made our little boy giggle and laugh all the time. I am so grateful that Bailey was her for the birth of our son and to meet him before she left us for Heaven.
I have to realize that she is in a better place now. I believe she was holding on so long just for us. Bailey always had her tail wagging right up until the very end. I hope she realizes how much we love and miss her and that her life was full and happy!!!
We will never forget you....you were my BABY GIRL!!! We love you so much Bailey and keep an eye on our Baby boy for us and maybe one day we will see you again and I will bring some old socks with me!!
All our love, Mommy, Daddy, Max and Matthew!! xoxoxoxoxoxo
