Buddy Boy was a registered Rat Terrier who was a great companion and friend. I received Buddy Boy as a Christmas gift five years ago. He was flown from California to Orange, Texas when he was only six weeks old. When he arrived, everyone at the airport had a fit over him and just marveled at how darn cute he was!
He continued to develop into a very handsome young dog. He loved to chase the squirrels up the trees in my backyard. Buddy also enjoyed running and playing with my son's outside dog, Daisy Mae, who is a Blue Healer. He would run around Daisy and bite her on her ankles, making her chase after him. Buddy would be running around in circles real fast and then all of a sudden he would just lie down! He was such a pleasure to watch play. He brought us such joy that I can't even begin to explain.
When it got time for snacks, he loved his pig's ears but he also loved vanilla ice cream! He got a scoop of it almost every night. I'm going to miss him not getting those treats.
Wherever I was, that's where Buddy Boy wanted to be. If I went into the kitchen, Buddy would follow me into the kitchen. If I went into the bedroom to take a nap, Buddy would come and lie down with me. If I went outside to work in the yard, guess what? That's where you would find Buddy Boy. Why, he would even follow me into the bathroom! If I tried to shut the door, he would just push it open with his little paw!
He was such a smart dog. I taught him many tricks; like he knew how to 'speak' for treats, he would give me kisses when I would motion for him to do so, he would lie down when I would tell him 'down', he would shake my hand with his paw, and he could even stand on his hind legs and twirl around in a circle for a treat.
What a precious dog you were! I'm truly going to miss you! I loved you sooooo much!!!
After we returned home form evacuating from Hurricane Rita, I went back to work for 3 days. Then on Wednesday evening, October 19th, my precious puppy was hit by a car. We rushed him to the vet and he started him on an IV, gave him an antibiotic shot, and a shot to keep him from going into shock. So, I took off work on Thursday and Friday. When I went up to the vet’s office to check on him, at 9:00 o'clock on Thursday morning, he was swollen about 3 to 4 times larger than he normally was! I was shocked, but the vet said that it was normal for dogs to do that after such a trauma. I checked on him a couple of times that day and he was not any worst, but they said that he wasn’t any better either. They were suppose to take him for x-rays on Friday morning and set his little broken leg. However; the vet himself called me at 9:05 A.M. on Friday, October 21st, and gave me the news that my precious Buddy Boy had passed away.
Buddy Boy, please forgive me. If I had known that you were going to leave me so soon, I would have stayed there with you and let you slip into your peaceful sleep in my arms. I have been mourning you ever since.
He was such a loving and compassionate companion. He will sorely be missed, not only by me, but by my two beautiful Granddaughters, as well. The 3 of us have cried together for over two weeks and we visit his grave everyday.
Please keep me and “the girls” in your prayers. I just can’t understand why God thought that He needed MY Buddy Boy more than I did, as He has truly broken my heart.
Buddy Boy, you will live in my heart forever!!! I can't wait to run to you and let you jump into my arms and give me lots and lots of kisses as we cross over that beautiful Rainbow Bridge together and NEVER be separated again! Rest in peace, my precious little "Buddy" and my shadow.
I Love Y-O-U, Buddy Boy!
