Flash was a rescue horse,he had been abused and neglected and the best way I can relate our very short time together is this beautiful poem my sweet, wonderful sister-in-law wrote the day we had to have him put down. We brought him home in April 2005 and said good bye Sept. 30th 2005. It goes like this:
Flash was a horse,a sight to see the flies, the bones, his broken knee. No food, No water, Just all alone, I made some calls and brought you home...He'll live the rest of his life happy now... I cared for him with food and love, but GOD spoke to me, " He's needed above" We laid him to rest under the tall oak tree, Flash my horse your spirit is free
You'll be missed, my wonderful guy, I'll think of you often with teary eye, Flash - O - Flash, run fast and free, Your spirit lives on in me.
My Dear sweet baby boy, "my diamond in the rough" I thought sure by bringing you here we had saved you from all the bad and hurt you had endured for years, "If love could have saved you, you would be here today". Mom and dad miss you dearly and we are SO happy you touched our lives in your sweet and special way. You are the sweetest, kindest horse I have ever known in my life, you deserved the love, care and dignity the few months we had together. You were always so cute when you ate your baby carrots and cut up apples. I loved to hear your sweet nicker to say "Hi Mom & Dad" "You're home let's eat". You have unknowingly made more people aware that there are others out there just like you and we need to help them. My brave sweet boy, because of you we may help save others. Because of your couragousness and bravery there may be one less horse that will endure what you did... I pray that one like you touches someone like you touched us...You will always be our Hero!!! God Bless you sweet baby boy we miss you more than words can say!
Love mom & dad
Hi Sweet Baby Boy, It was just a year ago you came here to a safe, warm, loving home... we miss you more than ever, it's spring and grass is growing, just like you like to graze on...I hope you are getting a lot of that in heaven. We planted Forget-Me-Nots at your resting place the other day and it brought tears to my eyes, that I could no longer brush your beautiful mane or just hug your sweet loving neck. I can no longer hear your welcome nicker as I walk to the barn...I can only remember how sweet it was, and how it made me smile to hear it. I miss you dear friend, I miss you more than words can say... I wish you were still here...Love Mom
