Niles was our little "teddy bear". That's because when he would get groomed he liked to have his fur cut short which made his face and ears look just like a teddy bear. He was rescued in New Hampshire in 1994 from an abusive home. He had never had his paws touch the grass, never learned to climb stairs and never learned how to play. His teeth were in terrible condition and he had to have them removed which caused his tounge to stick out of the right side of his mouth which made him even cuter. He sat in my roommate's lap for the 3 hr trip home and became bonded to her instantly. Although he loved the two of us, Pam was "his person" and he absolutely adored her. He would wait every morning in the recliner with his "blanky" and watch the stairs to see when she was coming down. Then the tail would go crazy and the woofing would begin. Niles never really learned how to play with toys, but he enjoyed going to bed where he would make a mess of the covers, hiding under them, flipping them around, rolling onto his back with his front paws pumping so he could get his tummy rubbed. Niles was predeceased by his "little" brother, Fraiser and then his quiet little world was set into a tailspin with the arrival of the "beast", his "sister" Cassie. All she wanted to do was play with him; all he wanted to do was rest and sleep. He was a wonderful little dog who brought smiles on the faces of everyone who ever met him. You couldn't help but smile because he was so adorable. He will be missed by Pam and Ann, his groomers Kathy and Sandy, his boarding pal Lynn, our next door neighbor Norma, his "sister" Cassie and too many others to mention. In his days spent with us, he never wanted for anything. He was loved and protected and had all his medical needs met. I think it was so difficult to lose him because he was always so healthy and everything happened too fast. But at least he did not have to suffer and now is playing with his "brother" Fraiser on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. Stay safe, little bud, and we will see you again someday. Love, your 2 moms, Pam and Ann
