Angus was a stray cat which was found by Alley Cats, a animal protection agency who offered him for adoption at a local pet store. When we visited the store there were several kittens who needed homes. We were immediately drawn to the little black kitty in the cage playing so excitedly with a toy mouse. He was just so full of energy and playfulness we could not take your eyes of him. We were hooked.

Angus did not immediately take to his new home or us. He hide from us for more than a day not sure of who we were or where he was. But came out of hiding and into our hearts with meows which announced his every desire and emotion and he stayed in our hearts every day since. He was the focus of much of our attention every day and we loved his company more than words can express.

Angus loved to play and stalk his yard. He played with anything smaller than him which moved or which he thought moved. A sting, a toy, a lizard, or a mole were his playmates. He was all legs and muscle. But he was not the most graceful cat often tripping over his fast moving feet while climbing stairs. He was not the bravest cat as he jumped at every strange sound. But he was a very happy cat who was loved every day and gave his love in return. He walked always with his tail pointing to the sky. He always greeted you by rubbing against your leg and then rolling over on his back waiting for someone to pet and rub his belly. He loved to hide and jump out and grab your leg tenderly as you walked past. He most often slept with between us with his head pointing to the pillows and his feet to the front of the bed. He simply had a grand time all the time.

We do not know what happened to Angus. On the morning of July 4, 2005 he went outside at about 8:00 AM as he always did and we have not seen him since. We fear the worse.

We did not get to share our lives with Angus nearly long enough. We wanted to have him for all stages of a cat's life and watch him grow from a playful kitty to a regal elderstateman of the animal world. But for the 2 years and 4 months Angus shared his life with us we loved him every moment. He filled us with happiness several times every day. He was as sweet a family member as we could want. We hope we gave back to him at least part of the security, love, tenderness and joy he provided us.

Our hearts are broken. We miss Angus more than we can describe. We thank you Angus for being in our lives. We are sorry we could not protect you from all bad things. We will always carry you in our hearts.

Val and Jim
