We brought Baxter, a yorkshire terrier home in August of 2003--just a little handful of puppy. He was sweet and cuddly and tough as nails all at the same time. When I would take him to pick Shea up from school he could hardly contain himself when we pulled into the school lot--he was so happy to see her. He quickly stole all of our hearts and became our "baby". He sat at the top of the stairs where he could see out the window of the front door so that he could see us come home and "protect" us from intruders. He loved our old dog, a German Shorthaired Pointer, Dixie, and kept her young with his playfulness and tender kisses. They were a great team, Baxter, very protective of our home. Baxter developed sypmtoms of a collapsed trachea when he was a little over a year old. His favorite game of fetch made him struggle for breath, so we had to hide all of his toys. Even then, if he found something to play with he quickly turned it into a game of fetch. He was just a little boy who wanted to play.... His last days were a struggle, all of the things that had helped him to breathe were no longer working...it kept him up all night, and his eyes begged for us to help him. When we took him to the vet we knew that we could only help him to pass on peacefully. We all miss him....
