As you all know Bags and I were very best of friends. We were together for 13 years. I still wake up in the middle of the night and expect to see her next to me. She had become such a part of my life that the lack of her presence is evident in almost everything I do. I would like to think I knew what all her sounds, movements, expressions and reactions meant. I know she knew all of mine. Below is the story of her life that I wrote on her behalf a few years ago. Most of you know the special way that we were brought together. For those of you who don't hopefully this will explain the amazing connection that Bags and I had. My Life (as told by me) Hi, my name is Bags. I am a pure-bread Beagle and I think I may be 12. I don’t know exactly how old I am because my mom found me. I was out in the wild for over one-year. That year it was a very cold winter. I survived on food given to me by employees of a nearby shopping mall and scraps from a restaurant called B.B. Binks (those were my favorites). Many people tried to catch me but when I would get close they would move fast and I would get scared and run away. I remember the day, October 5, 1992. This lady was in the parking lot of the shopping mall when she saw me. She bent down to the ground and began calling me over. She would tap her nails against the ground and that caught my attention. She was the first person who let me just scale my way toward her. When I got to her she picked me up and held me close. I remember she went in all the stores to see if I belonged to anyone. She also contacted all the local shelters to see if anyone reported me missing. I’m so glad no one claimed me. Mommy named me Bags because I was a little bag lady. I have had the best life. I get to sleep with my mom and cuddle every night. I’m not very good with tricks but I do a great roll-over. (why waste my time with the small stuff!) I have a grandma, a pop-pop, 2 aunties and an uncle who love me very much. Lots of friends with dogs too! Mom also got me a little sister, Pooh, to keep me young and active. Boy does she. I was very lucky to find my mom and she tells me all the time that I am the best thing that ever happened to her. We are best friends!! My Dog's Funniest Antics Her love of squeeky toys (because they drive Pooh nuts). Throwing things up in the air. Barking at the dishwasher, the stove and bags. Her favorite and only trick - rolling over. Her complete obsession with food and treats. Snoring like a human. Giving lots and lots of kisses.
