Mr. Monks “aka” The Sweet Monk, Monk, Monka, Monkey crossed the Rainbow Bridge Tuesday, October 12th peacefully in the arms of his devoted mom while in the care of Sycamore Veterinary Hospital.

Mr. Monks was born March 9, 2008 in Richmond, Virginia but little is known about his life prior to his 6th birthday. Monks was rescued on Valentines Day 2015 by Ring Dog Rescue and quickly became a dog that legends are made of. His foster mom fell in love with him at first sight and couldn’t give him up. Monks was officially adopted in August of 2015.

He was the beautiful baby boy of Dawn Blair and his arch nemesis (dad) Neal Blair. He is survived by his grandmother, Jackie Blair, his sister Eleanor and his two brothers, Mongo and Bradley. He was preceded in death by his sisters Daisy Mae and Noel and brother Woola. (Who I’m sure welcomed him with open arms on the other side)

Mr. Monks favorite activities including staring at his lady (his mom), licking his face like a banshee and yipping and everything and at nothing at all. To be honest Mr. Monks loved everything about life especially when it involved his lady (his mom). He enjoyed yearly trips to the beach and he frequently accompanied his mom to stores and restaurants. He was also quite the little fashion plate and could always be seen around town dressed up for any occasion. The camera loved him and he loved posing for photos no matter when or where he was up for it. His unique look, funny personality and charming charisma made him an instant social media hit where he amassed more than 6000 followers. He was also quite the toy hoarder and took daily inventory of his almost 100 toys.

More than anything else in the world, Mr. Monks loved his mom. He was her constant companion and he could always be found right at her side. He was there through many of life’s challenges, heartache, illness, grief and happiness. Monks was good at a lot of things but he was best at unconditional love. The unconditional love he gave his mom every day was something you never forget.

Mr. Monks lost a hard fought battle against Cushing Disease which he had been diagnosed with in March of this year. He fought up until the very end and his little body just gave out.

Mr. Monks will be greatly missed by so very many, but none more so than his mom. She loved him more than anything in the whole world, with all of her heart and soul. He will forever be missed and eternally be remembered. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you give all your four-legged family members a little extra loving in honor of a special little boy named Mr. Monks.
