I can remember the first time I saw Prince. He was up for adoption at the humane society I volunteered at, and I watched him for over a month. He started getting mad about being caged up so long that he was emptying out his litter box and yapping at everyone who walked by. He used to go to petsmart, also, on a weekly basis where I watched him there too. Finally, I decided to take him home. He was only 2 years old at the time. I have seen tons of cats, but have never loved a cat more than Prince. He knew it too. He was such a character, and I think he thought he was human. Prince had many nicknames such as “Bad Boy” to go with his theme song from cops, "Feather Duster" because of his tail, and "Princie Poo." He used to follow us around the house all the time, and was such a talker. He was not an annoying talker, but would talk to you whenever you talked to him, like a person. It was like he understood you. Even to his last day on earth, whenever I would say Prince, he would say “meow.” He even did it on the way to the vet. I would just look over at him and say Prince, and he would say “Meow.” He always liked to jump in arms length to be petted whenever he saw someone walking by. He didn't want to miss an opportunity to be petted. If he didn't get pet in that spot, he would go to the next spot to be petted, and he would be sure to say “Meow” meaning “look at me, I’m here, and don’t forget to pet me.” And then when you would pet him, and you tried to leave, he would hit you because he wanted to be petted some more. He would also make up this sound that sounded like he was fed up with you because you stopped petting him. He would also try to butt in when other cats were getting petted. He would growl at them, and then he would start some sweet talk with you.

Prince loved the garage also. He loved to play out there since he wasn't allowed to go outside, but the light had to be left on because he was a scaredy cat, even though he pretended not to be. He pretended to be a tough guy around his 3 girl cats.

Prince was also a big sulker. He loved to sulk. Most of the time, we never even knew why. He would put his butt to you, and when you would try to talk to him, he wouldn’t answer or acknowledge you. Most of the time, he was sulking because we were petting one of the other cats. He also loved to be near my dad. His favorite spot was on the couch right beside my dad, about an inch away from his head. My dad and Prince always used to play the game of chasing him off the couch, and then Prince would be right back up about an inch away from his head or even closer within about 2 seconds. My dad would tell Prince to leave, but Prince would just start yapping, and wouldn’t move. Sometimes he would move closer to the other side of the couch, but when my dad wasn’t looking, he would be right back in a second. He always had this innocent look to him.

We had 8 wonderful years with Prince, but his death was quite a surprise. To his last two days, we noticed he wouldn’t leave our side. He always wanted to be right beside us, and he must have known he didn’t have much time left. We were very encouraged as he looked better the next morning, but little did we know that we would lose him by night, Halloween night to be exact. We love and miss you very much Prince! I don't think any cat will ever be able to bully your girls like you did. Update, Tommy Terror, our new kitten, that we got about 2 months before you died Prince, is keeping your girls busy for you! You don't have to worry about your girls getting lonely now Prince!

Dear Prince, During the time you spent on this earth, you had one of the best caretakers of cats. She saved your life when you were just two years old. She has also taken excellent care of many others, including us. You are lucky to have lived with her. The Great Spirit has blessed us all. Rest in peace, dear Princie.
