Duke came to us from an animal shelter when he was about 3 years old. He had had a very hard life before coming to us and it took us a long time to help him settle into our home. The last several years were years of comfort and happiness for Duke. He began his life over again with us and watched our children grow up. He protected and loved all of us right to the very end. We know that he is safe and happy now, but there will be an empty place in all of our hearts now that he is gone, but because we will remember him, he will be with us always.
He made our house a home and our home will never be the same without seeing him run to greet us when we come in the door or get to see him play with his buddies Billy, Mocha and Malanka.
Our children will miss him most because he has been there in their lives for as long as they can remember.
Good bye our friend, our family member, our Duke. We will love you always as you have loved us.

Personal Notes

I can understand how much your heart is aching. We lost our "Duke" just one year ago but the pain feels like it was just yesterday. These little "critters" come into our lives for such a short time and when they leave its only then that you realize how much a part of your lives they really were. They certainly do change your life. I hope that time will heal your pain. I'm praying that it will heal mine.
