Lucy was rescued at the age of 5 months. She was being left out in a yard and neglected. She spent every minute with her owner for the first year and half with her owner due to extreme separation anxiety. It worked! After that, she could be left alone and she knew I'd be back.
She was my first dog and I quickly understood the significance of having her in my life. She changed my life in ways I never would have imagined, most profoundly introducing me to everyone I crossed paths with.
Life was long and good. We traveled, visited great Seattle parks, and learned how to swim even though we never enjoyed it.
Lucy was part Rhodesian Ridgeback, and her appearance and behaviors made that apparent. She was strong, regal & loving. She could also be awesome & terrifying if you were a skateboarder, rabbit, or deer.
Cats are also fair game in her early years until she quickly learned they were due respect. She became great friends with a number of cats in her adulthood.
I thought that she was ultimately independent, but learned just before her death that she utterly relied on me and loved me fundamentally.
Her passing was very peaceful at home. Lap of Love did an excellent job assisting in that.
