Betty has been a wonderful girl, and always making everyone laugh with her character, and of course 'quiet ones' and draggy bum. Everyone loved her and she will be remembered always and forever. Here's a lovely poem we received from our good friend, Paula for Betty :

The angels looked upon you, and they loved you so.
I believe that is why you had to go.
In the arms of the angel, now you lay, and they’ll care for you, both night and day.
And you’ll have a new home, in those heavenly lands, and the angels will caress you with there gentle hands.
When I look up, to the far away sky, when I’m thinking of you, I’ll try not to cry.
When I reach for you, and you’re not there, or when I miss the feel of your velvet hair.
When I dream at night, that I hear you bark, but awake in the cold and dark.
When I choke up, and my feelings, I’m trying to hide.
When I miss you so much, that I hurt inside.
Then I remember, that the angels took you from me.
And held lovingly in their arms, is where you’ll be.
And I will remember you’re happy and feeling no pain, and your awaiting the moment you’ll see me again.
I’ll try to be happy, stop feeling so blue. For I know you’re safe, the angels love you.
In loving memory of a most cherished friend.

Betty went everywhere with us! She has experienced more adventures than any other dogs than we know. She has 'skied' on snow... went on a campervan with us twice!.. sneaked into a hotel room... took part in the Hero's parade with Mark... and many more!! She was the most gentle angel one could ever come across. We will always love her and may all the wonderful & beautiful memories stay with each and every one forever. Hope Betty is having a swell time in doggie heaven with her boyfriend Trophy and good friend Mouse. WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS!!!

Personal Notes

Betty was a dog of character, old as she was. I have very strong memories of her 'singing' while you were flying; none of her 'quiet ones'.
Even though dogs have a shorter life than do cats, unlike the latter, they give their love unquestioningly and without strings. We don't need to earn it, it is given, quite a gift.

Betty was special loved by all who knew her. She stayed at muriwai with us sometimes and I remember we went out for a couple of hours, on our return we were greeted by a larger dog who somehow had eaten a whole loaf of bread! The vet said try giving her bicarb soda but betty said bugger that and locked her jaw. Bunged up betty!. Mark came to pick her up and she staggered off, back to normal next day.
we love you Bettypoobaas.

Ah Betty that long long long walk up Mt Mangere seemed to take forever you would smell every dog poo along the way. Smelt my car up on the way, and always with a big grin on your chops. Happy bone chasing up there. Karl

Wild and free, a spirit passing,
Roams the forest and travels the mind.
Strong willed, strong at heart,
Protector of the wild and free.
Statue of honor perched atop a mountain,
Eyes focused on everything around.
Sounds in the distance, always ready.
Guides the young to safety.
The cry of the wolf,
Cries out warning and joy.
Moves within its territory,
Silent and sleek.
A vision of courage,
A will to survive.

So long, Betty Brindle. I could tell Mark loved you from the first day I met you. Come to think of it, you vomited, but it wasn't anyone's fault. My abiding memories are of how you'd shout at Mark if he acted the goat, or if he looked at you from the corner of his eye. You were always the perfect hostess, and even made room for Marcus, too. Beloved pets are never forgotten. Lots of love, pats, and treats.
