Barbaro,

"When you ran the ground shook, the sky opened up, and mere mortals parted. Parted the way to victory. Where Edgar Prado met you in the winner's circle and placed a blanket of flowers on your back." Barbaro, even though I have never met you physically, it feels like I have known you for a long time. You were one of the smartest and kindest horses out of all Throughbred kind. You won all of your races. Then came the Kentucky Derby. You ran with your heart and soul and finished the race by 6 1/2 lengths. But then came that fateful day in the Preakness when your leg and dreams shattered into 20 pieces. The doctors at New Bolton Center did all that they could. But in the end, laminitis was to much for you. You were a great champion, but soon all champions have to become a legacy. You were greatly loved, Barbaro, and we know you are galloping with Slew and Affrimed by your side in heaven.
Thanks to Gretchen and Roy Jackson, Edgar Parado, and Michael Matz. Barabaro was a champion, and now is a legend......
