Jenny was a "typical" miniature Daschund. She was full of life, everything interested her and she had her own idea of what was important and what wasn't. She was loyal to a fault and would give every ounce of devotion to me that was in her small body. Her favorite "activity" was to sit with me in the recliner at the end of the day and read or watch TV. She became paralyzed with degenrative disc disease just before she turned seven years old. She was confused about the change in her ability to get around and I really believe she was embarrassed by her loss of bowel and bladder control The decision to end her life was painful. I held her while she slipped away and my heart broke and will remain broken for quite some time. I am a minister and have been motivated to offer my services to our veterinarian to help counsel others who are grieving over the loss of their loved pets. I have found that many people seem to be grieving over lost pets and I am in the process of beginning a pet loss support group at our church. I want to take some of the pain over the loss of Jenny and turn it into something good. She was a great friend and I will miss her.
