Dear Jeopardy….

You came into our lonesome life-
So helpless and So weak
(You stirred the embers of my heart though-My heart, YOU began, to beat)

What was it like to care for You-To Love A tiny orphan heart?
You and I learned how to make formula! (You and Reno learned how to Fart!)

Silly looking orphaned kitten-
(came in a smiley face bag to me)
When we first saw your eyes, they seemed to say
“Please, Please Help, I’m In Jeopardy!”

We spent a lot of time together at first-You, Me and the Cow Fur Glove
Thank you for being so brave and strong! For growing up & giving us Your Love

I hope that wherever you are now- You know what you meant to us
I hope You know How much we adored you-(We Knew that You adored Us)

How Were we to know you’d be taken so young?
By a cold, black, heart without a beat?
If We could go back-We would save you-Though now, I must admit, our defeat

I was Terrified that HE would hurt you-that You would disappear just like the Others
But I couldn’t keep you inside forever-(You’d already shredded half the covers!)

We didn’t know that Evil walked amongst us -Again!- that day
That HE was waiting In the wings, to claim Your life
Your crime, (so it seems), was to play too much-
(And catch too many of His damn mice)

“Beware of the Bad Man” We should’ve said-
“His vengeance is Sharp & cold as ice
He thinks He’s the “King of the World“, Jeopardy
…..He’s terrorized us all now, once or twice-

But we just Sailed along down the River Denial
Refusing to see that evil just below the Ice
(I’d baked him Cookies at Christmas-for Christ sakes!!)
Killing our pets? Well, that- just wouldn’t be nice!

Oh!! We Are So Sorry -Sweet little Jeopardy!
(I Did Hear You- When You Cried Out!)-
I’m Sorry that I didn’t come and Rescue You-
I’m Sorry, now, we ever had a doubt

We didn’t know the Jeopardy that your life was in!
That It’s black soul had chosen Then to end your life-
But I Swear that We will avenge you -
Jeopardy- I Swear That Upon My life-

Silly orphan kitten- (delivered in a smiley face bag to me)
You made us smile, you made us love
You were Our
Jeopardy
Personal Notes

Our sweet kitten was trapped and killed by our next door neighbor, Gene Watters, March 30, 2004. Jeopardy was 10 months old. The brutal and senceless act has scarred us all. She was an orphan kitten, raised by us from the age of 10 days old. She was funny, devoted, and completely innocent. We will never forget her.
