Bear West, 8 years old, beloved son of Graham and Stacy West went home to meet his maker today. An awesome big brother to Makayla and Taylor. He was preceded in death by his little brother Rebel. He joined our family as a teenager in 2009. The family is forever indebted to the Freeman and Faulkner families who entrusted us to be his forever home when their family member was injured in a wreck and could no longer care for him. We thank Jerry Walker for recommending us to the family. He was known in the neighborhood for always being on guard. The protector of our home. The Intimidator is how he will best be remembered. It was quiet the sight to see people hit the other side of the street when walking by, because they did not know what was behind that fence, but could hear the ferocious bark he could belt out. He was a big, beautiful, gentle giant. He loved to go for rides and take trips to the mountains. In July 15, 2016 he was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors didn't give much time. We were blessed to defeat all odds and have almost seven more months with him. Bear made it to the mountains three more times before peacefully passing in his sleep. He will be truly missed. There will be a private service and burial, Thursday, February, 9, at the home. The family asks that if you have a huge heart for animals that contributions be given of your choice to your local animal shelter or animal rescue, or by adopting an adult dog.
