Sam was a wonderfully beautiful animal – so much more than a canine companion. He was a fierce protector of those that he loved as well a quintessential gentle soul. Although Sam had no formal training he was very well behaved and extremely intelligent. Sam was also intensely intuitive in that he was able to sense the prevailing feelings of those close to him: canine and human alike. Sam liked to ride in the truck, go for long walks, short walks or a walk around the front yard. He loved the pool, going to work with mom & dad, treats, steamed broccoli, sherbet, was tolerant of other animals and being from Colorado he loved deep snow. Sam was always a young-at-heart dog but he was also on “old-soul”. The deep feelings that were evident in his eyes made him the special friend that he was. He had a huge impact on most of the people he met as well as other animals. We can attribute much of Louie’s lovable personality to Sam as to anything genetic. There were many strangers who commented on Sam’s unique demeanor as if he were an old friend. Sam received thousands of “Good Boy” and “Good Dog” from friends and strangers in equal number. Sam will be missed – he filled our hearts with a love & devotion we didn’t know existed.
