"What a wonder is the concept of love - that it's infinite vastness was fully embodied in this velvet miracle now lifeless in our arms"
--Pam Lindsay

It is amazing how the parting of such a wee creature, could leave this immense tear in the fabric of our lives. She was a pixie princess. We often called her saucy-pants, as she did everything with two snaps and a twist! She was always nearby, and would prance gleefully to the door on our return from "the place out there". We will miss her head butts and her soft subtle purr. We loved cuddling up with her in the "blanket cave", holding her velvet paw in ours (Yeah, she liked having her paw held!). Her dad relished having a cat who actually enjoyed being held like a doll as he drifted off to sleep. I will always remember her head butts, and her hilarious penchant for dragging her blankie around in her mouth. Around the corner she would come, her meow hilariously distorted and with her massive woolie in tow - As it was twice her size, she had to drag it through her legs! Sometimes we would come home and find the comforter on our bed at a bizzare angle. She had attempted to drag it to the floor - an impossible feat! Other times she would bring all the socks from the fresh laundry off the bed and form a little pile in the living room. She expected much praise for that (And she got it!). I STILL don't know how you knew to bring them out in matching order bananas!
Thanks Savanah for always dreaming big, loving purely, and taking two silly humans and one playful kitty brother into your immense heart. Tigger is still looking for you and it is hard to see his confusion when you do not come trotting around the corner for "knuckles" or cat treats. We will never forget you, little trotsky. Thanks for jumping up on the bed and spending the last two nights with your confused, grief stricken mommy and daddy. You did that after I wept openly, lamenting how you would never have the strength to hang out in "the tent" again. You were a little fighter right up to the end. Go pull the blanket of stars into the night sky and drag the dawn up by it's corner in the morning. Until we meet again little velvet princess!

Love Matt, Pam and your little brother Tigger

P.S. - We know about that secret excursion outside with your brother..... You were both still covered in dew from the grass!

Personal Notes

"I put down my book, The Meaning of Zen, and see the cat smiling into her fur as she delicately combs it with her rough pink tongue. Cat, I would lend you this book to study but it appears you have already read it. She looks up and gives me her full gaze. Don't be ridiculous, she purrs, I wrote it."

To Savanah's mom Pam: I wanted to thank you for the note you put up on Twinkie. We still miss her so and it looks like Savanah was such a special kitty. We are sorry about your loss too. Where Twinkie's urn is, I put up a little shrine with all her favorite toys and a St. Francis of Assisi candle. I light it every night to honor her memory. May time heal your pain and sorrow. She must have been a joy to love.
