'Rosie' came to live with us in January of 1994, and just as any full blooded Red Bone Hound dog does, she loved to hunt and chase Raccoons, Bobcats, and Mountain Lions. Aside from the numerous 'coons, bobcats, and the occassional coyote, she is credited for tracking and treeing 2 150+ pound Mountain Lion toms'that were successfuly taken in the Bears Paw Mountains. As a result of her desire and impressive ability to outtrack and outhunt most of the 'local hounds', she was regarded as one of the best around. Even though hound handlers like to brag about their dog's talents, I never had to pad her resume or talk her up because everyone knew that if Rosie came to the hunt, when the tailgate dropped, the BS hound stories stopped, she was all business. Rosie loved to ride in the back of the truck anytime, to anywhere. She loved MacDonalds hashbrowns for breakfast and cheeseburgers for lunch and always seemed to know when we were going out for a treat. She was a very well behaved dog (most of the time), and always stayed in the truck until I dropped the tailgate, regardless of how long I was in somewhere, she always came when I called her, and NEVER told any of the secrets and dreams I confided in her with. As a divorced mother of 2 small children going through alot of ups and downs, I always knew that she would be there to comfort me when I needed a shoulder, and was always ready for playing and fun when I needed a companion. She was a constant in my life, the most loyal friend I have ever had. For 10 years, no matter where my life took us, she happily adapted without complaint. The children never knew their lives without her, and her without them, she was truelly part of our family. Rosie passed away on Mother's Day of 2004 as a result of a car accident, and will be forever remembered and loved.
