Zach was a stray discovered in the rafters of the home our family was building at the time. Scared and tiny, this kitty was all alone. I, being seven years old at the time responded with the usual wonder and awe of any child that age. "Mommy, can I keep him. I promise I'll feed him every day!" A battle I actually won. The kitten instantaneously bonded with me and became almost like a secons shadow. Aside from school, wherever I went, Zach was sure to follow. When we lost him in 2001, myself being twenty at the time, my whole world was shattered. It's so hard to go into a room and not see his little face. I have recently adopted a kitten who looks so similar to our little Zachary..we actually named him Zakareigh. He is like a second chance. But, we will never forget the genesis that started it all. Our baby who would kiss away my tears on bad days and would sigh his contented little purr on days of happiness. Please, help me to keep his memory alive!

Personal Notes

I remember coming home from school when Zach was about a year and a half old and searching the whole house for him. I looked in every room in the house. I finally ended up in my room, scared that someone had accidently let him out. It was at that point that I heard the meowing under my bed....and that is where I found him. I was so relieved to see the little furrball's faced that I completely forgot that he had just played a cruel joke on me and hugged him for at least a half an hour!

Zach was such a happy cat, always wanting to be held and cuddled....even by the dog!! A huge Newfoundland whose tail weighed more than Zach! But, the two bonded and were the best of friends. Some of the cutest pictures we have is of the two of them cuddled up on the floor napping together.
